Over the past 22 months the artists have been engaged in various forms of dialogue, collaboration and parallel directions in research. Considering how as artists and European citizens, we interact with our physical environment and the effect this has on the larger world, physically and metaphysically. The first Corduroy exhibition in Stockholm included artworks and works in progress, products of this dialogue. Part 2 concludes with an exhibition in Bolton, in September 2018. LandmarksNew show opening 20th October. The Gallery at St George's House is a great space in Bolton. All Welcome.
The Gallery at St. George’s House is pleased to present an ambitious new exhibition by four Greater Manchester artists; Kate Davies, Sarah Feinmann, Maggie Hargreaves and Fiona Moate. Collage and works on paper or canvas reflect the processes at work in our environment; the ways in which nature supports life and the ways in which time and people put their mark on nature. This exhibition looks at nature itself as well as at the traces, erosions and edifices, from wheel tracks to monuments, fences to hill figures: the results of time, history and people’s interactions with their surroundings. Each artist brings a unique focus to the exhibition: Kate Davies looks at the overlooked and insignificant parts of the worked landscape and at the tracks and traces, sticks and stones which mark the land; Sarah Feinmann’s work uses juxtapositions of used and worn scraps and fragments of paper to examine the nature of time, memory, change and erosion; Maggie Hargreaves is interested in the natural environment and how the interactions within it enable it to function as a habitat for all; and Fiona Moate makes semi abstract paintings, which incorporate landscape elements, from ancient monuments to architectural landmarks. Manchester Art FairI m thrilled to be showing work at Manchester Art Fair 2018 with Elastic Space Art Consultancy.

An international exchange exhibition featuring selected artists from Studio 44 (Stockholm, SE) & neo: artists (Greater Manchester, UK). Alyson J Barton, Sandra Bouguerch, Mariana Ekner, Louise Garman, Emma Göransson, Christina Göthesson, Bethan Hamilton, Maggie Hargreaves, Suzanne Harulow, Susanne Högdahl Holm, Geraldine Hudson, Thaleia Kavvada, Brian Neish, Helena Norell, Sebastian Nordbeck, Angela O'Mara, Steph Shipley, Jason Simpson, Nina Wedberg Thulin & Denis Whiteside. What does it mean to live in a post-industrial northern city in this time, where perhaps, through the stream of social media, we are psychologically more informed than ever before... but, are we more aware? What is our relationship to our living and working environment? Are we merely observers or participants? The alienation that Karl Marx spoke of when relating to the modernisation of working life, is this behind us? Could it be said that we are living in a post-alienated sense? Two groups of artists from artist run spaces, from Greater Manchester (UK) and Stockholm (SE), have over the past 14 months been engaged in various forms of dialogue, collaboration and parallel directions in research. Considering how as artists and European citizens, we interact with our physical environment and the effect this has on the larger world, physically and metaphysically, especially after this past tumultuous year in politics. Corduroy, a project in two parts, will reveal how artists from both countries attempt to grapple with these ideas employing a diverse range of processes, techniques and materials. Considering our past, present and future through historic art practices such as oil painting, drawing, printmaking and embroidery to modern day video, digital photography, spoken word poetry and found art objects. The first exhibition in Stockholm will showcase artworks, works in progress, products of this ongoing dialogue, alongside sketchbooks and digital documentation as the project continues to develop into a final group show in Manchester, in September 2018. 'Corduroy Part 1 - Are we in progress?' will be open to public viewing at two separate gallery locations in Stockholm - Studio 44 and ABF Stockholm. Vernissage Friday 10th November at 17-22 Studio44 Tjärhovsgatan 44, Stockholm, Opening hours: Wednesday - Friday 12-18, Saturday - Sunday 12-16.
